Objectives of the Institute


The objectives of Institute of Parks and Recreation (Singapore) include the following:

 
 1.  The advancement of the art and science of ornamental horticulture in the design, supervision and execution of construction works in the laying out, administration, and maintenance of public parks, botanic gardens, nature reserves, recreation grounds, nurseries, open spaces and public amenities.

 2.  To promote research and education in ornamental horticulture and recreation amenities provision and management

 3.  To convene and hold meetings and conferences for discussing subjects relating to or bearing upon ornamental horticulture and recreational amenities or the design, construction, management or improvement thereof.

 4.  To bring together and to provide a central organization for people connected with ornamental horticulture and recreation facilities and improve the status of such members and to promote co-operation and mutual assistance amongst them.

 5.  To print, publish, sell and distribute papers prepared for the institute and any records, extracts, abstracts and translation relating to parks and recreation.

 6. To accept grants of money and donations, gifts, subscription and other assistance in furtherance of the objectives of the institute.

 7. To represent the views or opinion of the Institute on matters related to the objectives of the Institute.

 8.  To frame a code of Professional Conduct and ethics and to adopt a code of practice applicable to members of the institute for the public advantage and to create public confidence in those who are members of the institute.

 9.  To issue certificates to members of the institute or to other persons in recognition of their proficiency in the field of parks and recreation.

 10.  To do all such other things as are incidental or the institute may think conducive to the attainment of the above objects or any of them.
